INTERNSHIP/ ARTIST ASSISTANT FOR JEWELER/ METALSMITH
Elizabeth Tokoly, artisan jeweler, metalsmith, teacher and gallery owner is seeking an intern. The intern will be learning all aspects of the studio and gallery. Must be a self-starter who is highly organized. Work entails contacting galleries, promoting, cataloging merchandise, overseeing vendors, administrative office work, organizing studio, basic knowledge of bench work, prepping pieces. Computer skills- mac book, power point, word, social media, word press, square space, etc. Hours are full time or part time. Need not know all requirements, must have a passion to learn skills.
Compensation for the internship will consist of an intimate hands on knowledge of gallery and studio. If applicable credits from an institution or school. If available an opportunity for a part time position.
Get to know me.... I am Elizabeth Ann Tokoly. a formally trained Metalsmith with over twenty years of consulting and teaching experience in Jewelry Design and Interior Design. Specializing in one of a kind art jewelry, fine jewelry collections, unique bridal, bespoke jewelry, objects and classes. Each piece is made using historic techniques such as forging, stretching, alloying, annealing, lost wax and fabrication to produce the finest craftsmanship.
Towards that end, I conduct formal classes at EatMetal Studio, 92nd Street Y, Peters Valley, Snowfarm, and after school enrichment in hudson county, that are designed to develop individual’s skills in jewelry and metalsmithing. In addition, I am the owner of EatMetal Art Jewelry Gallery and Metals Studio a unique gallery with the purpose of representing contemporary art jewelers and the goal of educating the community on the value of the handmade.
My studio space is located in the Monroe Arts Center, Hoboken, NJ a growing community of artist and entrepreneurs.
I have a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
